Open Evening
Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists is a riding club whose principal aim is road safety.
However, important though that undoubtedly is, there’s far more to the club
than just its coaching of Roadcraft techniques.
The Open Evening is exactly what it says on the tin – open and free – with no commitment needed from you whatsoever. It’s
aimed at attracting new members into the club and giving you a clear idea of
what to expect, which probably means a lot more than you thought!
If you like what you see and hear – and we think that you will – then the next step is down to you.
We’ll explain over a tea (or two) what the club gets involved with, such as mid week runs, weekend rides and European
trips. Or for the more adventurous there are also track days, muddy events in
Wales and frequent green-laning adventures organised by experienced members.
Standard events are once a month IAM coaching days – called Observed Sundays – to help you towards the advanced
test. And safer riding.
We will explain what this involves.
There are club nights too, often with guest speakers and which usually feature a bike related theme.
Participation in the club is down to you. As much or as little as you like. Some join, study for the test and then leave,
others find it opens up a way to new biking buddies and new horizons.
We’re all different and if you think about it, that’s maybe why we all ride in the first place!
The club is non-exclusive, and it’s for people of all ages, male and female. All makes of bikes (including scooters)
are very welcome, as long as they are capable of sustaining the national speed
limits, including motorways.
So just turn up at Ripley Village Hall (here) at 8.00 pm on the last Tuesday of any month and we will introduce you to the
club’s aims, principles and benefits.
