Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists (WVAM) is a club affiliated to the Institute Of Advanced Motorists (IAM). It has charitable status, registered charity number
1050868, and is run entirely by volunteers dedicated to motorcycling.
Falling driving standards and ever more crowded roads make you as a motorcyclist even more vulnerable. Only by improving rider skills through education will accident rates reduce. The aim of the club is to improve road safety through the education of motorcycle riders. We do this by demonstrating how you can become a smoother, safer and more progressive rider, whilst at the same time making the experience fun and mixing in a great social calendar.
Our aim is for you to pass your IAM advanced motorcycle test. The method we use is based on the Police system of motorcycle control.
The club has been independent since 1983 and has a wealth of experience to call on. We have approximately 500 members with around 75 members providing the observing skills to associates who have not yet passed their advanced test. Our well established observer training scheme also enables you to further improve your skills and knowledge after passing your Advanced Motorcycle Test.
There is also an extensive social calendar which includes such activities as:
-
Overseas tours
- Track training days
- Off road riding days
- Weekend trips throughout the UK
- Rideouts to interesting locations most weekends
- BBQ's and Dinner/Dance evenings
- Club night
- Open Evening
Wey Valley members ride a wide variety of machines ranging from scooters & cruisers to classics and the latest sports bikes, so you will be welcome whatever you ride, but you must have a bike which can reach the national speed limit.
Once you have passed your advanced test you don't need to stop. Remember - the best riders never stop learning. You can continue to be a member of WVAM, improving your skills and experience on one of the many courses the club runs, or even participate in further training to become an Observer and learn to pass on the skills that you have leant.
We have a passion for motorcycling and the club is run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers.
